Yard Birds is a confident team of gardeners with over 60 years of combined experience. Their passion is creating aesthetically pleasing green spaces that promote wildlife and pollinator habitat in the urban landscape.
Megan Johnson-Salewich
Founder & Chief Gardner
Megan founded Yard Birds in 2013 to pursue her passions for working outdoors and bringing green spaces to life. Calgary's short growing season sees Megan making the most of her summers, contributing to the joy of her customers' yards, planters, and gardens. Her biggest passion? Helping the environment by contributing to habitats for pollinators and wildlife.

Our team collaborates effectively to design and maintain your outdoor garden spaces. Each member is exceptionally trained and educated in our standard of service and meticulous attention to detail.
Our crew members come from diverse professional backgrounds, including the landscaping and horticultural sectors, avid home gardening, and various other trades. Notably, we have a certified Red Seal horticulturalist among our staff.
While we welcome several new faces each season, our core team has worked together for many years, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie and family spirit. We are dedicated to mutual respect, continuous learning, and delivering exemplary care and attention to our clients' gardens.
